benefits of dance classes for children at kathys dancenter clementon nj

Benefits of Dance

If you have kids, you may be wondering what is the best way to channel their seemingly boundless energy. While traditional team sports are a good way to get your kids physically active, they may not be right for younger children. Dance classes are a great alternative to team sports and, at Kathy’s Dancenter we offer lessons for children as young as two.

Improve Physical Health

Dancing is a highly physical activity, and kids who take regular dance lessons at Kathy’s Dancenter will see a significant improvement in their overall physical health. Regular dance practice can increase your child’s flexibility, range of motion, physical strength and stamina. The repetitive movements involved in dance can improve muscle tone, correct poor posture, increase balance and coordination and improve overall cardiovascular health. For children who are overweight, it can also help them to lose weight.

Socialization Benefits

Dancing is also a highly social activity.  According to “FamilyTalk Magazine,” dance lessons can help children improve their social and communication skills, learn how to work as part of a team, develop a greater sense of trust and cooperation and make new friends. If your child is shy, enrolling her in dance can encourage her to reach out to other children her age and help to reduce her anxiety about new people or places. Dance can also help to alleviate fears related to performing in front of an audience.

Educational Benefits

Becoming a skilled dancer requires practice, discipline and focus, skills that can be useful in other areas of your child’s life. Dance lessons can help to spark creativity in young children and help them to develop an appreciation for the arts. Students who regularly participate in dance lessons typically tend to perform better academically than their nonparticipating peers. Studies have shown that students who have a background in dance tend to achieve significantly higher SAT scores and do better in math and science competitions.

Improve Self-Esteem

As children adjust to the movements and postures required in dance, they begin to get a better sense of their bodies. As they become more comfortable in their own skin, their confidence and self-esteem also improve. According to EduDance, dance lessons can encourage children to foster a more positive attitude and explore their own self-expression. This can be particularly beneficial for children who are physically or mentally impaired or those who are attempting to deal with significant emotional problems.

I’ve been hearing a lot about how dance classes can be beneficial to children. My daughter has expressed interest, so I’m doing a bit of research. I didn’t know that when kids do dance classes they become disciplined, which helps them get better grades! I’ll make sure I get her applied. Thanks for the help!

I learned a lot about how dance classes can benefit children. I really like how you said that “Dancing is a highly physical activity, and kids who take regular dance lessons at Kathy’s Dancenter will see a significant improvement in their overall physical health.” It is really good to know that enrolling kids in class will help to improve their overall health and will help them to develop many good skills.

This is some great information, and I appreciate your point that dancing is a good outlet for physical activity. My son hasn’t had much interest in sports or any of that, but he has mentioned wanting to dance. I’d really like him to have a physical activity that he enjoys to keep him healthy, so I’ll definitely look into signing him up for dance classes. Thanks for the great post!

I think too many kids are being subject to inactivity. It is our job to make sure our kids get active and I think dance is a great option. I like that you mentioned the social benefits as well. I have a somewhat shy daughter and she has made great friends at dance.

Dance is such an incredible way to express one’s self. I agree with you that children can benefit greatly from being involved in this beautiful art form. One thing I did not realize was the socialization benefits also associated with dance. I will definitely be placing my twin daughters in classes as soon as possible!

I can see how having dance classes it would help my kids improve their social and communication skills. I also agree that by having another leader in their lives, guiding them would be a very positive experience too. That is also a great tip that by having dance classes, it could help social anxiety too, I would have never thought of that.

My son has expressed interest in dance, and I support him completely. I didn’t realize that dance had so many physical and mental benefits! That’s even more reason to find him some classes.

I like how you mentioned that dance classes can help to improve self-esteem. My son has been talking about starting dance. I think it would be good for him to have something he can work hard towards improving, and I think it would do wonders for his confidence.

I’m glad you said that dance lessons can improve children’s social and communication skills. My son started a new school a few months ago, and he’s been having a hard time making friends. Maybe he could practice making friends if I enrolled him in some dance classes.

There really are a ton of advantages that children can get from taking dance classes. I particularly like that the article brings up socialization benefits as one of the big ones. After all, young children might have trouble making friends so it helps to have some common ground with other kids first.

It’s nice to know that dancing can help children to be comfortable in their own skin which makes them more confident about themselves. My husband and I noticed that our youngest daughter is too timid and often hesitate to talk to other people because she’s not confident with her looks. I will be sure to consider enrolling her in dance classes so she can get help in building her self-confidence.

You got my attention when you said that dancing can help children to reduce their anxiety when they are with new people in a different place because dancing can improve their social skills. I will be sure to keep this in mind because one of my children shows signs of anxiety when we’re not around. She fears about getting friends with other children, so I will be sure to find the dance classes that she can join.

I liked learning that dancing can help improve your child’s physical strength, flexibility, and stamina. My sister wants to make sure her twin daughters are staying as healthy as possible. I’ll suggest that my sister enroll my nieces in a respectable dance studio so they can stay active and have a hobby.

I couldn’t help but feel inspired after seeing an electrifying dance performance at a local event last weekend, and now I’m quite motivated to find dance classes in my area, immerse myself in the joy of dancing, and learn a new skill. I’m even more excited now that you mentioned how our bodies begin to become more aware of themselves as they adapt to the postures and movements required in dance.

It was interesting to read that dancing can assist your kids in becoming more physically strong, flexible, and endurance-oriented. My sister is concerned about maintaining the best possible health for her twin babies. To keep my nieces busy and give them a pastime, I’ll advise my sister to enroll them in a reputable Beginner’s Dance Program.

I’m happy you mentioned that dancing instruction can help kids become more social and communicative. Since starting a new school a few months ago, my kid has struggled to make friends. I could always get him a dancing class so he could practice making friends.
